Canton library trustees approve signature-gathering policy and transfer HVAC funds

Board of Library Trustees · Meeting of March 17, 2026

Canton library trustees authorize signature solicitation in building lobby and walkways. The Board unanimously approved a new solicitation policy allowing nomination papers and petition signatures in designated library areas--main lobby, community room lobby, and outside walkways--subject to reasonable time, place, and manner regulations protecting constitutional rights and library operations. Trustees also unanimously transferred $35,000 from the State Aid Library Offset Fund toward outstanding HVAC and roof repair work.

Director Andrea Capone reported the new roof survived the recent blizzard without leaks and confirmed the library will close April 27 through 29 for migration to Evergreen, the Old Colony Library Network's new integrated system, during which staff will undergo training on the new catalog and customer service protocols.
