Capital Planning Committee reviews Canton schools' FY27 capital requests, defers votes.

Capital Planning Committee · Meeting of February 10, 2026

CANTON — Capital Planning Committee defers school capital votes pending documentation. Canton Public Schools presented more than $1.9 million in cash and debt capital requests to the five-member Capital Planning Committee on February 10, with Assistant Superintendent Brian Lynch and Superintendent Derek Folan fielding extensive questions on projects ranging from HVAC repairs to technology upgrades to furniture replacement. Committee Chair Christopher Deck said the panel will vote only on requests unlikely to change and will coordinate with the Finance Committee on revised motions and amounts as schools provide missing quotes and await final School Committee decisions on several projects under reconsideration, including potential reductions to the Luce Fire Alarm Panel and Luce Generator replacements that could free funds for student transportation vehicles.

The Committee will resume voting on municipal requests on February 24.
