Library Board Tightens Meeting Room Policy on Political Activity

Canton Library Trustees unanimously restrict political campaign activity in library meeting rooms. The Board of Library Trustees voted to prohibit candidate meetings, campaign events, and political advocacy while preserving space for civic debates and voter education forums. Director Andrea Capone reported steady January circulation of 14,143 items and 15,048 door counts.
The library will close April 27-29 for a catalog system migration. Friends of the Library are raising funds through a 5K race on April 26 targeting $2,250 in sponsorships for the $16,500 annual programming budget. Building renovations are advancing with final designs completed for the Tech Wall and Holdshelf Wall, and new laptops arriving.
