Canton Youth Basketball Association opened in-town registration and launched a new 9th and 10th grade boys league, while Canton Victory Hockey Association's Juicebox program got underway.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Canton Youth Basketball Association's In-Town Basketball registration is now open, the organization said on its website. The in-town program is open to Canton residents in grades K-8, and CYBA has added a new 9th and 10th grade boys in-town league, priced at $130 for the season. Travel players who also want to play in-town can register at a discounted $40 rate through the "Intown for Current Travel Players" section. CYBA said there are no tryouts and all registered players make a team; sessions run on Saturdays. The K-3 division is structured as a skills-based development program, while grades 4-8 play in a "Pro League" format with a 30-minute practice and one-hour game each week.

CYBA also opened registration for a Pre-Season Skills program for players entering grades 5-8: a four-week, $60 session focused on dribbling, finishing around the rim, shooting and competitive play, held at the White Mamba facility in Walpole, run by former NBA player Brian Scalabrine. Sessions are scheduled for Saturdays, Sept. 12, 19 and 26, and Oct. 3.

Canton Victory Hockey Association said on its website that its Juicebox Hockey program has started and that there is still room for players to join.
